Knowledge about Acacia Wood & Rubber wood
Samanea saman (Rain Tree/Chamchuri/Monkey Pod): This is the wood most commonly marketed as "Acacia wood" in Thailand for furniture and artistic creations. It's highly valued for its exceptional durability, unique, interlocked, and wavy grain patterns, and rich color variations (from light amber to dark mahogany). The tree grows abundantly, especially in Northern Thailand, and is often found along roadsides or in fields, providing shade with its wide, umbrella-shaped canopy.
Several species of Acacia trees are found in Thailand, both indigenous and introduced. The most common species for wood use is often referred to locally as "Chamchuri" (or Mai Cham Cha), which is globally known as the Rain Tree or Monkey Pod (Samanea saman), rather than a true Acacia species in the modern botanical classification.
Rubber trees, scientifically known as Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg, are primarily cultivated for rubber production. The Thai Government actively encourages the planting of these trees, particularly in Southern and Eastern of Thailand. After approximately 25 years, when the trees reach the end of their rubber-producing lifespan, they are harvested for the wood industry create various wooden products. Following this, new rubber trees are replanted, ensuring a sustainable cycle for future production.
Wood Care and protection
Our wood products are treated with a protective lacquer that highlights their natural beauty. For cleaning, simply wipe with a damp cloth and let them dry naturally. To maintain appearance, occasionally use a soft cloth lightly moistened with vegetable oil. Remember, wood is a living material that thrives on care, so avoid soaking it in water.
